The use of a subwoofer in a surround sound system?
Is it possible to use a woofer instead of a box bass on the LFE channel in 5.1 surround sound? Also, if I had to put up a surround sound system, would it be better to connect the system video directly on TV or enforce through aa A / V receiver?
1 A subwoofer is designed to take in the signal Freq low and they actually have a separate amp for the same power. A regular woofer needs an amp so no it will not work nor give you anything near the base of good even if it was possible. 2 In a calibration and technical standpoint yes, it would be better to take your video sources directly on your monitor. On a more practical level, it depends if you have enough inputs on the TV, if you want to deal with switching inputs on the receiver and the TV and the amount of space to run the son on TV.
