Can I connect speakers to my home theater plasma TV without using an amplifier or DVD?
I Home Theater Speaker and I want to connect my plasma TV without using a DVD player. The only cable that comes off the subwoofer is a computer cable
I guess it depends on what you're looking to do ... To get a better sound quality in stereo just your TV output only, yes it is possible but limited as far as sound quality and volume as there is no SAP between the source and the speaker to boost the signal strength. I would suggest that you think of a "surround sound in a box" system that allows you to have both worlds usually much cheaper (150-200.00 $), a processor and then surround speakers on top of this ...($ 500.00 + $ 200.00, etc.) Oh and check to see if the subwoofer has an entry optical audio port / output cable too!
