What is a good set of hydralic disc brakes for a decent price?

I am looking for a good series disc brakes for a decent price? I want both front and rear disc brakes. I'm looking in the price range of less than 100 $. I love the Avid Juicy brakes but they are a bit expensive. Furthermore, what are the advantages of hydraulic brake over mechanical? Is it true that if the tube is cut the brakes are unnecessary since the fluid to escape? Is this the braking between the two as different because it uses a liquid as opposed to a thread?

Well, regarding the myth that if a pipe is cut, well, that's true, but it is not common. Anything that can break-misadjust-dysfunction. Hydros was a brake very reliable (of course, depending on which brakes individual you are considering). I mechaninical both brakes (Avid BB7 calipers with Avid FR5) it works well, and worked with Hayes hydros, Shimano and Magura. A well-fitting pair from BB7 can work similar to a hydro good, so maybe if you do not want to spend too much money, BB7 mechs might be a good popular option. Powerwise two mechs and hydros can be very powerful (you can get more rotors if you ride more extreme or are heavier), but in general where hydros work better than mechs is in the modulation, and buffers hydros self adjusting wear plates, while the mechs you must move blocks more closely.
