Home audio subwoofer reverse or normal phase?
I am very uneducated when it comes to speakers and audio in general. I just bought a new sub-woofer to pair with my Sharp sound bar. The sub-woofer is a Sony, on the back it has knobs for Hz and the volume level. It also has a switch for the "phase" between normal or reverse? I am not sure what this phase switch is and what I should be listening for in the change.
The phase switch is basically used to synch the sub-woofers driver movement with the movement of the woofer in your full-range main speakers, so the sound waves are not canceling each other out - in your case, I don't think it will matter as the sound bar is not a full range speaker, but try the phase switch in each position and see what sounds better.
