Sound Home Speakers
If my TV's built-in speakers don't work will an external sound/home theatre system work with it?
Forgive my ignorance with TV anatomy. My Samsung CRT TV's (MN: TX-82783) speakers no long work. I'm thinking of buying a surround/home theatre system to get sound that way and am wondering if I'd be out of luck anyways?
Also, can I control the volume of external speakers with my TV's remote?
The source would merely be the A/V inputs on the back of the TV or the Digital Audio Out (Optical) input.
hook up tv audio output to sound/home theatre system audio input with optical cable. A/V inputs on the back of the TV wont do any good, they are for input, not for output.
What the other answer was referring to is that you could hook up the audio outputs from the devices that send video to your tv to your sound/home theatre system audio inputs.
Eg:
I have a pvr/dvd/bluray/wii/ipod all hooked up to my receiver. The sound goes to the speakers hooked up to my receiver, the video goes from the receiver to the tv.
