Center channel not working on Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver?
Don't ask me how I did it, but I accidentally put the center channel speaker wire that was connected to the receiver in an electrical socket. After hearing a loud pop / buzz sound and a bit of smoke, now the center channel on the receiver won't work. Is this receiver toast or is it fixable?
If it was your amplifier that was plugged into the wall, then take it to a service centre and see if it is worth fixing. Many parts of a receiver are not too expensive, but it depends on the extend of the damage. Most repair shops would charge a small estimate fee, worth a shot before shelling out many hundreds of dollars on a new receiver. If as the other person mention, you plugged in the speaker itself into the wall, then likely the drivers are fused, and again it may be worth fixing, depending on the speaker.
