Kardon Avr 1080p
Help with connections to high definition DVD, AVR,.?
I just bought a Samsung 40in 1080p HDTV. I currently an old Harman Kardon AVR without HDMI, only optical, coaxial and RCA connections. The TV optical media. My DVD is progressive with only CompoNet and optical without HDMI. What is the best connection to optimize the sound of my TV, can I connect the Strait of DVD to the TV for audio or April and what are the best optical connection, coaxial. or RCA and any additional advise would be great.
Connect the DVD player to an external television input using component (red / blue / green) cables. Connect the optical output from TV to the input of A / V receiver optics. Connect the optical drive DVD A / V receiver (If the receiver has only one optical input, you can get an optical coaxial converter and use the entry coaxial to one source.) Do not connect the audio from DVD to the TV. Do not use any stereo audio (red / white RCA) at all. In the setup menu of the TV, select the digital audio output, and disable the internal speakers of the TV. In the setup menu of the DVD, select the digital audio output, and when you play select DVD Dolby 5.1. (If your A / V supports DTS and the DVD that you can choose if you wish.) When you watch TV, select TV sound input on your receiver. When you watch a DVD, select the external component input on your TV and DVD audio input on your receiver.
