Sound Wall
The room of my surround sound system is no wall of sound and I let that projects to the room?
Someone can recommend something I can do to trap the sound leaves the room. The situation is that I have surround sound plugged into my family room upsairs. The problem is that the room is open to the foyer lower level because there is no wall in the room. I thought a sort of curtain that I can slide back and forth over the area not covered by a wall. What do u guys think?
In these conditions you "lose" some noise, but it should not be worse than being in a bigger room ... In this case, you can compensate by turning the volume. However, if you have a system limited energy heavy drapes or acoustic panels (eg foam on a plywood lessor) was suspended from the ceiling opening would probably help. You'll have to experiment, but avoid hard surfaces (they will cause reverberation) or thin material (it is acoustically transparent).
