Some Noise

I need proven methods to block the road noise in a room. What did you use what works?

I live on a busy street, and it is VERY noisy. I have curtains that block noise and light, but they help only a little. What can I use? Serious answers only, please. Perhaps I should say that the window is on the front of the house.

Hi, I think that white noise machine works best if you are bothered by noise while you sleep. They create a soothing sound that masks unwanted sounds that lets you relax and sleep.
