Can play a scratched or scuffed compact disc ruin it?
I have a few scratches and / or scratches CD's that I listen all the time and they play very well but I came across an article that actually read If a scratched CD is played, they'll actually miss it. In addition, if the CD is scratched and / or scratches, why did they play well. After all, you can see the marks and scratches! Should not they be ruined?
I very difficult to believe that playing the discs scuffed / scratched would be the most damaging. The point is that only laser light touches the disc. The reason they play is because the designers thought of that CD. There is a process called "checksum" and "parity" which is computer-speak this means simply that the data are actually distributed across the disk in several places. These places are supposed to "add-up to a particular value. If they do not, the system attempts to recreate the missing value from some of the others. In this way, the damaged discs, even continue to work. Years ago, when I sold stereos, I made a "torture-disk" by putting a strip of masking tape on a 1 / 8 "across the broad on a CD (hole in the center to outside edge). Different brands of CD players deal with this disc, and others not. This shows that offered greater resilience
