Improving the sensitivity of a frequency counter. How?.
I have a small frequency counter withan SMA connector though I have a SMA to BNC converter. It shows the frequency of a cell phone if you use it near the counter. Problem is that I want to know how to make it more sensitive. Is there an amplifier I can put between the screw on the antenna and the frequency counter to improve things like a sound / amplification system made?
You can do it, but you must ensure that it's worth. What is the sensitivity of the meter now? If you make too sensitive, you can not be sure of this signal, it first reading. For the most part, freq counters are designed to read about 1 or 2 microvolts. Not quite frank, but not sensitive enough to read something in the air. Any pre-amp you use must have the specter of password you want to receive and should not be sensitive to overload and erroneous readings. The link below goes to a preamp broadband may work for you.
