Is a kit of 4 amps gauge agreement with a 300-watt amplifier?

I've got a JL Audio 300, 2 A and I'm looking for amp kit. I found a good deal but a 4 gauge kit and I am not really need more than one package size 8 for this I do. So my question is will this kit negative effect on my amp in any way or is it just an investment in case I buy a more powerful 4 amps per channel, then down the road?
